It's been a busy first month or so of school. This year for the first few weeks we have been choosing Pete the Cat books to read. If you are not familiar with this series you should definitely check it out! It is one of my all time favorites and the kids LOVE all the music. Here are a few hi-lites from some activities created with those books in mind. Also, we have begun to transition our classroom into Fall and Farm. Although the weather is still pretty warm, Fall is officially here. We also are planning to go to the farm on our next Family Partnership day so a farm theme is fitting for us to study. Enjoy a sneak peak of some of those activities below as well.

Dear Lime families,
I wanted to let you know that I am making a change at Frankie Lemmon School and as of Wednesday September 21st I will no longer be working in the classroom as teacher assistant with Jaimie. J and I have been a good team for the past 6 years and I will miss working with her each day. She has been and will continue to be a close friend. I have been so fortunate to do for a living what I am passionate about in my heart. I knew the day I walked in the door to apply for a job that I had found my life's work. It has been such a priviledge and honor to see these precious children grow and learn through the 15 years that I have been here. the families, staff, volunteers, and all of the other groups that make this exceptional school so special have been faithful to bring FLS so far and for that I am so thankful. Changes happen in life and situations and circumstance will make things different for me. I will continue to be involved at FLS in some way. I am just switching gears until I retire. It is in my near future! And trust me, I will be getting sweet hugs whenever I can! Love to All, Ms. B (Carla Bass) A note from Ms. J... This would have been my and Ms. B's 7th year together as a teaching team. We have always made a great pair and I am thankful for her being my right hand woman all these years. I am sad to see her go but excited that we will still get to see her around FLS and that I always have her to call as my friend. She is a beautiful person inside and out as you all have had the privilege of experiencing throughout her 15 years at FLS. So this isn't goodbye, just we wish you well, and we will see you around B. Love you! Also, we will be having a retirement party for her on Tuesday, November 15th so please save the date and plan to come be a part! My name is Ricky McLamb. I have been in child care for 15 1/2 years. I was born in Clinton, North Carolina. I am child number 12 of 13. I have 5 sisters and 7 brothers. Most of my family is in education. I enjoy working with children and seeing the progress they make over the school year.
I live with my fiance, Ferali, and my dog, Leia. I have three children, two girls, 29, 27, and a son, who is 24. I also have a 10 year old granddaughter. Most people call me Mr. Red, which is my nickname. I enjoy watching sports, reading, cooking, playing video games, and cleaning house. I got my Associate Degree from Wake Technical Community College in Early Childhood Education and my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I will be going back in the Spring of 2017 to get my BK Licensure from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I am glad to be here to support you and your child. I hope that we will have a great year. I am so excited to have the opportunity to be part of your child's educational life. I hope that we can all grow together in this school year. A note from Ms. J... Mr. Red officially joined our class on Monday. Some of you have gotten a chance to meet him at drop off, pick up, or today at the cookies and milk event. He is a treasure and already loved by all the kids. We are going to have a great year and we are very fortunate to have him as a part of our classroom. My name is Alex Brinkley and I am from the small, rural town of Aulander in northeastern North Carolina. I am currently a senior at Meredith College, where I am majoring in Child Development. I am hoping to attend graduate school in order to become an Occupational Therapist. I have so much love for Frankie Lemmon as I was placed here last semester and did some shadowing with Mrs. Dawn. I am looking forward to spending lots of time with the Fabulous Fives this year!
A note from Ms. J Ms. Alex comes and volunteers in our class every Tuesday and works with the children. She will be doing her student teaching here in the Spring as well. We are very fortunate to have Ms. Alex. Hello friends and family of Frankie Lemmon Limes! As you can see it has been another busy and exciting few days since I last wrote. Some of the kids favorite activities included playing with floam with Ms. B and our therapy dogs coming to visit. Daisy and Molly are always a big hit when they come to school and the kids adore them. They get to learn the proper ways to interact with dogs, how to ask to pet them, and appropriate ways to love on a dog without hurting them. In addition, it provides a lot of good opportunity for new vocabulary and lots of communication because they get so excited to see them each month. Enjoy the pictured down below and at the end of the week I will have more exciting news and pictures coming your way! Hello Friends and Family of Frankie Lemmon! For those of you new to the site welcome! For those of you who are returning we are glad to see you back again! I hope that everyone had a wonderful summer and Ms. B and I are happy to be back in the Fabulous 5s also known this year as the "Limes." As a friendly reminder I will be posting pictures and updating the blog weekly. I will send out a reminder to parents of current classroom students on the remind app and for former parents and friends of FLS I will also post on social media. Once viewing this blog you can also become a subscriber to get an automatic email reminder each time this blog is updated. On the blog you will see hi-lites from the past week. I try to capture as many of the children each week as I can but I do not always get every single child each and every week due to absences and the variation of participation in activities as to whether they were a "choose to" for the kids or a "have to" they may not participate. This past week since it was the first full week of school the pictures are very limited. As you can tell from the pictures though the kids are settling in nicely and already busy busy! Enjoy and see you again next week! J |
